For p-day last week, we went to the Marienberg castle in
Nordstemmen with our district (except the zone leaders--they're too cool for
us). It was our last day with Elder Roberts. Sad day. Early Tuesday morning we
went to the train station with him and said our goodbyes before he headed off to
Berlin. I'm gonna miss that guy. Because Elder Bone was also in Berlin picking
up his golden, we taught the English class! It was way fun watching Germans try
to speak my language, hahaha, I felt so justified.
We met with "L S" twice this week. Both were memorable. For the first, he
brought me this "mystery tea" to drink to get rid of back pain, because ONE time
I told him that SOMETIMES my back hurts. He told me to drink all of it right
then. Uhhhhh. My companion saved my life and took him into the kitchen for a sec
so I took the tiniest sip of it and my lips and mouth started to burn and I said
to myself, "Yeah, this isn't going down," so I ran to the bathroom and poured it
out, haha, he had no idea. The second encounter with "L S" this week involved a
six course, authentic Cambodian meal. Six courses of death. One thing I cannot
do is force myself to eat something I don't like. Needless to say, I had to
force myself to eat a lot of things I didn't like. It didn't help that:
1. We had already stuffed ourselves on bakery goods,
2. Anders (our ward mission leader) kept making fun of the way I was eating
the whole meal and how I should eat more,
3. In Germany, you have to eat every bit of everything on your plate or
else it's super impolite, and
4. "L S" kept piling more food on my plate.
I literally thought I would straight up keel over and die on the floor.
Anyway.
"L S" is actually one of my favorite people here. He's so so funny and he
has horrible German and he calls us his "daughters" and how he would gladly
adopt us and he is one of our progressing investigators. Baptismal date is next
up on the menu. Stay tuned for that.
We got randomly kissed on the cheek by two old men in a matter of two days
this week.
We did a lot of finding this week.
I started reading the Book of Mormon in German this past week, and I'll
tell ya, my understanding of the German language has gone through the roof. I'm
not sure how, but it's happening.
I want you all to know about the cool human who is my boyfriend who just
got called as a trainer and district leader at ten months in his mission. You
all are welcome to be jealous of my good fortune. [Ed. note: funny girl.] He's the best.
That's all for this week. The church is true.
Sister Seamons
Quote of the week:
We were playing ping pong as usual every Friday night at the church, and we
were playing that game I don't know the name of where there's a bunch of people
in a circle who take turns and whoever loses 3 points dies. So Hoang lost all
his points and someone told him he was dead, and he responds with, "Ich bin
Mormone. Ich bin unsterblich" (I am a Mormon. I am invincible).
