It was a super, super, SUPER good day. We spent the day in Stralsund, which is another city in our area, and had THREE APPOINTMENTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now that is more appointments in one day than we have had in the last three weeks! That in it of itself was a birthday miracle! Our first appointment was with a recent convert, Heike, and her friend in our ward. You'll never guess what we did...we drove to RĂ¼gen, Germany's biggest island, and went to a cafe, where we ate this great Swiss ice cream that I've always wanted to try. We also had a lesson, and as we were sitting there, I looked out across the water back at Germany, with the sun shining (it's been shining this whole weekend and IT'S BEEN GLORIOUS), and German music playing in the background as we were sitting there with our Books of Mormon out, talking about the gospel. For a split second I thought I was in heaven.
In between this appointment and our next, we were going door to door and it was Sister Barlow's turn to ring the doorbells. I was standing out on the sidewalk and there was this younger woman walking towards me, and before I really even knew what I was doing, I was talking to her about God's plan for us. She had a ton of interest and totally wants to meet! We told her about what we do and that we do it voluntarily and actually pay to do it, and she was like, "dang, well there must be something behind that!" And we told her it's because we know these things are true. We got her number and will hopefully be meeting with her this Friday! Definitely one of the coolest street contacts I've had on my mission—she's great.
We were a bit early to our next appointment so I told my companion to take the picture below of me for my birthday. After the picture was taken, an older man came up to me and said, "Well, you are just glowing!" And I told him it was because it's my birthday, and we got to talking, even a little about the church and stuff. Super cool.
Well we got a little bit late for the next two appointments and ended up missing our bus and then our train and the next train wasn't going to come for two hours—which would've made us late coming home. Well the Lord blessed us and gave us another train to take home that would put us just on time:)
If that wasn't already good enough, we came home and there were SIX LETTERS waiting for me there!!!! Ah, guys, thank you so much!!!! I honestly don't know if I could've had a better day! I'm happy to be here—learning and growing and testifying of the truth so deeply within me. I love the gospel. I love this church. I'm a missionary and I love it.
11 months down, less than 7 to go.
