For Valentines' day, we made sugar cookies the whole day to take over to less actives/members in Greifswald. They ended up being the best batch of anything I've made on my mission. Hearts and flowers with pink frosting and sprinkles. And they tasted great. I honestly don't understand how these cookies survived in our baskets thanks to all the wonderful cobblestone. We were all over Greifswald literally just going by on all the people we knew in this place to find SOMEONE who was home and who would take these cookies. We may or may not have stuffed some in the Elders' mailbox, haha BUT we finally gave them all away. :) we biked back and forth across town for like four hours straight, haha. Good day. Though maybe not as good as going skydiving with Tessea last year for valentines. :)
YOU'RE NEVER GOING TO BELIEVE THIS... but we found a new investigator this week. Her name's "C"—she's German, in her 40's, recently lost her father and is now wondering where he is and how he's doing. We met her on the street a few weeks ago and last week we had our first appointment. We introduced the Book of Mormon and the first thing she said after was, "where do souls go when they die?" so we read in Alma 40. Pretty sure she read the whole chapter as we're sitting there explaining the Plan of Salvation. She had been looking at a Jehovah's Witness website so we very politely showed her our own, much better website. :) We're going back tomorrow morning. Wish us luck! And pray for her! She's definitely looking for something. Luckily we know we have it!
What else from this week, what else... We had Zone Training Meeting and Sister Barlow and I gave a killer lesson on listening. Not the best topic, for sure, but it was great. Read from the scriptures and all that good stuff. We also had interviews with President Kosak. He told Sister Barlow and I that she's going to be transferred and I'll be staying another transfer here. Totally bummed. I'd probably have died without her the past two transfers! Saturday we'll find out where she's off to and who I'm getting as a replacement...I'm a little nervous. We'll see.
That's it.
Spiritual thought for the week: I was reading this morning in Enos in verse 4 where he's explaining this "struggle" he had, when I got to thinking... "dang, he prayed a whole day and a whole night...he probably didn't even stop to eat...he didn't eat or drink for probably like 24 hours!"
*lightbulb*
ENOS FASTED. His desire to be forgiven for his sins lead him to fasting and to prayer. I got to thinking about the times on my mission when I've fasted for a specific purpose (okay, really only one purpose—to find someone who was ready for the gospel) and I looked back. Sister Stuart and I fasted, and we found Raymund, who got baptized a few months ago. Sister Meyer and I fasted, and Martin came back to church after a long absence and got baptized a week later. Sister Hashimoto and I fasted, and that day Martha shows up to church as prepared as could be and also gets baptized a week later. Two weeks ago Sister Barlow and I fasted, and we found "C".
I guess fasting really does work. Clearly it does! I know it does! God is aware of us, that I know as well.
I love you. I love the work. It's still cold but the sun's been shining. That's something to be grateful for.
