Berlin Stinks (week 28)

Hey! Guess what! On Saturday, I finished reading the Book of Mormon in three months. IN GERMAN! You heard me right! We started in May and I told myself that by the time I had finished reading it in German, I would be fluent. You're welcome to fly over here and speak to me in German and let me know how I did.

We had a reeeaaally weird week. We had an appointment with "B" Monday night and she was showing us around her apartment when we came across her alcohol stash... She asked us if we drink whiskey and we said, "No, we don't drink at all," and she was so surprised and asked why not. Sister Meyer told her, "I just don't need it!" And "B" responded, "Well neither do I! But I have a lot of fun doing it!" Ah, remember this woman is over 70 years old.

We got on a train to go to an appointment and the whole train car smelled like some disgusting animal had come on board and curled up under one of the seats and died. It was seriously SO BAD. Everyone in the train was plugging their noses and we all switched cars at the next stop haha it was so odd. Berlin smells.

My companion told me that I speak German in my sleep.

This week was also full of giving lessons. We had planned to have a lesson with someone every single day this week and we DID IT. We taught FHE at the church, we taught our district and the AP's at district meeting, and I gave a talk in church yesterday. I found out Saturday evening that I would be replacing a speaker in sacrament so I wrote my talk in the first hour of church... I know. So wrong. But it worked! I'm just glad it's over.

Somehow I'm always finding myself at the end of every transfer wondering where in the world the time has gone... This is the sixth week of this transfer and transfer calls are coming on Saturday. Sister Meyer only has one more transfer after this one so normally you would assume we would be staying together until the end, but there's a ton of new missionaries coming to the mission next week so they're going to need a lot of trainers. It seems that the mission is gonna be shook up a bit. There's also speculation that we'll be getting ipads pretty soon... Anyway! It may just be that there's a bunch of rumors going around but I'll let you know next week!

I've learned so much from Sister Meyer this transfer, but if I had to sum it up into one sentence, it'd be: "Be true to who you are." Sister Meyer is a yellow/red personality and I'm definitely blue, so I'm learning to bring out my red side a bit more! It's kinda fun!

I LOVE BEING A MISSIONARY. It's SO hard. SO HARD. In ways that you would never even expect or imagine. It's the refiner's fire. But I know that Heavenly Father is always there, helping me along the way, because He sees my potential and is helping me reach it. Trust Him, because He always knows best.

This is the best picture I've got for you guys... This is the view from our apartment. In the distance, you can see the TV Tower that Berlin's famous for. We tried to get up to the top of it last week but it was a two and a half hour wait... so... yeah we didn't do that.
