"Come with me to Africa" (week 30)

HI!

This week was absolutely nuts! Between being in meetings and traveling all over Berlin, we hardly actually did normal missionary work. But when we did, we saw so many miracles! But before I get too far, let me introduce you to my trainee, Sister Hashimoto:

If you might have guessed, she's (kinda) Japanese! Her dad is Japanese and she was born there, but her mom is Brazilian and she grew up in Brazil but has lived in America for a while. Actually, her step-dad is in the military so she's also lived in Germany and a bunch of other places. She's so great! She's so excited to be here and be a missionary and is sooo much better than I was when I was a trainee!

Like I already mentioned, we had a crazy week this week, but as exciting as it is to get a new missionary, it's even MORE exciting to see an apostle of the Lord! And one of my favorites as well. ;) Elder Bednar is currently the church representative of the African continent and told us a few experiences that he's had there. One of which, he was meeting with a youth group and gave them the opportunity to ask him questions, and the questions that they asked were truly humbling. One asked about what would happen to him if he died and never in his lifetime had the opportunity to go through the temple. He was 16. A 14 year old girl asked what she could do now to prepare herself to go to the temple. These kids! They truly have nothing. Yet they focus on the things that matter most. He also mentioned about Peter, one of Christ's aposles. He said that Peter needed to deny the Savior three times before his conversion was truly rooted inside him. He was already an apostle, but after his denial and through the repentance process, he never fell away again.

So far training has been so great. I think this area needs a new missionary to liven it up and set the pace. Keeping up with Sister Hashimoto is going to be a challenge but I think I'm ready for it. ;)

Again, MANY THANKS for your emails, letters, words of encouragement, and prayers. They mean the world.

I know that God lives. I know that Christ lives. This gospel is true. I know it, I live it, I love it! Until next time!
