Fall is Upon Us!! (week 33)

This week was pretty good. But for some reason, this week seemed kinda empty of missionary work, from interviews with President Kosak to district meeting to going to the dentist and General Conference. We also had a lot of appointments fall out. But the best part of this week came when we visited a less-active family who we had never met before. It's actually a pretty crazy story because the grandma of the family defended the Dahlem Elders from a drunk man and then gave them her information so we could stop by. Turns out they haven't had contact with the missionaries or the church for a really long time, until this drunk man comes along and tried to pick a fight... So we went out to go find her house but ended up getting terribly lost in the process and only had a little bit of time left to find her before had another appointment. We rang the doorbell and went inside and found that EVERYONE was home...from the lady who rescued the Elders and her husband and their son and his wife and their two sons and his wife and their baby... phew! We sit down and they all come into the room and say to us, "I'm a member!" "I'm also a member!" "We're all baptized!" HA! I think this is every missionary's dream, to stumble upon a house full of lost members. Anyway, we ended up being super late to our other appointment but this family was so happy to see us! The main lady's husband is basically dying but she said that, because we came over when we did, she has some more hope and light in her life. What a sweetheart.

Well...I've been in this beautiful country for six months...KOMISCH! It was just six months ago when I was watching General Conference with my trainer in Hannover! Where has the time gone? I'm loving this.

We got a text this weekend from an atheist after we invited her to come to Conference with us. She said something like this, "I'm an atheist, and I feel more free and happy now than I would if I were to follow some religion." What she said really rattled my soul for a while, because this gospel is more than just a religion to follow. It's more than a way of life. It's who we are and what we think. It's the blood in our veins. It's the light in our eyes that keeps us going forward when there's nothing but darkness surrounding us. It's the love of a Father, who would do anything for every single one of us, even send His own son to suffer indescribable pain that, even [though] a God, trembled because of it. It's the hope of a new start, a new page, a second chance. It's the knowledge that, while impossibly weak, we are dependent on Him who makes us impossibly strong, and through that, are we really made free.

This is my testimony. This is my everything.

On that note, I've got a few pictures for you all but before I end this, you should know that we witnessed a car accident involving a van and a fire truck this week. That was surely exciting.

SEE YOU ALL LATER!
