Anything I wanted to tell you about this week kind of pales in comparson to what happened last night for the 25th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall.
For three days they placed huge balloons along where the wall used to be, and there were thousands of them. Each balloon was connected to a story associated with the Wall. Last night they let all the balloons go, and we were a part of it! There were hundreds of thousands of people lining the streets from the Brandenburger Gate to Checkpoint Charlie to where we were. People driving cars just gave up trying to drive because of the herds of people. But we were there! And it was so great! Pretty sure we made history, and if not, at least it'll be a fun story to tell my grandkids about.
Hopefully you remember that African woman from about a month ago who we helped carry painting supplies to her apartment. Well we helped her finish moving in and then came back again to give her a Book of Mormon. She's really interested and pretty prepared and even came to church yesterday!
I've been in and out of sickness for the past two weeks and this past week I fell asleep for a whole hour resting on my hand as we waited at the dentist. We came home and took the whole night off after strikes with the trains around Berlin caused us to take over two hours to get home. That was miserable.
We've been feeling a pretty big push from our side as missionaries to work more with the members in "the Work of Salvation," which every member can do and isn't limited to simply talking to friends about the gospel. It involves magnifying your calling and doing home and visiting teaching, doing family history and indexing and temple work, plus spreading the gospel among people you know. The categories are essentially MEMBERS, the DEAD, and FRIENDS. We're focusing on helping members in their own specific categories which means you members need to focus yourselves so we can help you! I think members sometimes think that we missionaries don't have time for you—we totally do. We love working with members!
I'll end with my testimony of the restored gospel. I know that this is His church! I know because I have felt the Spirit in my heart as I have worked to become His disciple. I know that His path is the best path—there's no doubt about it. Through the restored gospel, we can have "peace in this world, and eternal life in the world to come."
